YouTube Music has started releasing its 2025 Recap, arriving ahead of December once again and continuing the platform’s tradition of offering an early look at users’ yearly listening activity. This year’s edition introduces an AI-powered “Ask about your listening” feature that delivers deeper, more personalized insights using natural language prompts. With expanded visuals, interactive sections and chatbot-style analysis, the 2025 Recap offers a more dynamic and customizable review of each user’s music habits.

How to Access the 2025 Recap

Users can access their Recap by tapping their profile avatar in the YouTube Music app on Android or iOS and selecting Your Recap. The experience begins with a story-style presentation, though a carousel lets listeners jump directly to specific sections. Consistent with previous years, the Recap covers activity through November, with December excluded from the annual summary.

Highlight Sections in This Year’s Recap

The Recap starts with total minutes listened and users’ longest listening streak, followed by their most-played track and top five songs. A dedicated playlist—along with a special September– November set—is available to save.

“Your musical bestie,” the top artist of the year, is accompanied by a calendar visualization showing the days users played that artist. The “Musical Passport” feature returns with a breakdown of how many countries listeners explored musically. Additional sections highlight top albums, podcasts, genres and a final summary graphic combining all key stats.

New AI-Powered “Ask About Your Listening” Feature

The standout addition this year is the integration of the Ask Music AI tool, which analyzes a user’s YouTube history to answer custom questions about their listening behavior. Suggested prompts include:

  • How did my listening change over the year?
  • Was my music more chill or hype?
  • Describe my listening as a weather report.
  • Did I explore or listen on repeat more?
  • What were my top electronic dance music songs?
  • What animal matches my music taste?

Users can enter any question through the chatbot interface and receive a personalized, shareable graphic in response. This marks one of YouTube Music’s deepest uses of AI to date, offering a more interpretive and conversational way to reflect on listening habits.

Conclusion

With its early launch and new AI-enhanced insights, YouTube Music’s 2025 Recap delivers a richer, more interactive look at how people listened throughout the year. The addition of Ask Music expands the experience beyond static statistics, giving users the ability to explore their habits creatively and share uniquely generated summaries.
