Anthropic has introduced Claude Opus 4.5, its newest artificial intelligence model designed to enhance coding performance, computer interaction and complex enterprise task support. This release marks the company’s third major model launch in two months, reinforcing the rapid development cycle shaping the broader AI industry. Following the rollout of Claude Sonnet 4.5 in September and Claude Haiku 4.5 in October, the new Opus model represents the next step in Anthropic’s expanding suite of advanced AI tools.

A Fast-Growing AI Model Family

Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers and executives, Anthropic has quickly become one of the most closely watched AI startups. Recent multi-billion dollar investments from Microsoft and Nvidia have lifted its valuation to approximately $350 billion. The company’s models progress numerically and are grouped by scale: Opus at the top end, Sonnet in the middle and Haiku at the lightweight tier. Claude Opus 4.5 succeeds the 4.1 version released in August.

Performance Improvements and Use Cases

Claude Opus 4.5 is targeted at professional developers and knowledge workers who rely on advanced research, analytical precision and automation. According to product leader Scott White, the model is designed for users aiming to expand their creative and professional capabilities. Anthropic notes that the system performs significantly better on everyday tasks such as spreadsheet handling, slide creation and in depth research. Its strongest gains appear in agentic coding, where it outperformed Google’s Gemini 3 Pro and OpenAI’s GPT 5.1 on the SWE bench Verified benchmark.

Benchmark Results and Engineering Tests

Anthropic tested the model using the same challenging take home exam given to prospective performance engineers. Claude Opus 4.5 achieved the highest score recorded, surpassing all human candidates. This performance reinforces the model’s positioning as a premium tool for technical users and supports its adoption across Anthropic’s Pro, Max and Enterprise plans, where it will serve as the default model.

New Tools and Feature Expansions

Alongside the model release, Anthropic introduced additional updates across its product ecosystem. Claude for Chrome is expanding to all Max users, enabling AI assisted actions across browser tabs. Claude for Excel is now generally available for Max, Team and Enterprise accounts, offering spreadsheet understanding and editing capabilities. The company is also adding Claude Code to its desktop application and rolling out enhanced developer platform features aimed at supporting more advanced software creation workflows.

Conclusion

Claude Opus 4.5 advances Anthropic’s capabilities in coding, research and enterprise task automation, further solidifying the company’s position in a highly competitive sector. With wide availability, expanded integrations and strong benchmark results, the model is expected to play a central role across Anthropic’s core product tiers.
